Acer laptop UK : Read before you buy

If you're thinking of buying an Acer laptop in the UK, like the Acer TravelMate which I bought, then I advise you to read about our experience of Acer and it's so called "customer service" before you buy.

 

These are the details and the correspondence related to Episode 3 of our Acer Travelmate laptop experience. You should also read the Introduction to my Acer laptop experience where there are links to other episodes (yes there's more!).

 

Episode 3 is still ongoing.

 

Last week the CD/DVD drive failed. It wouldn't read any media. So back it went to Acer UK for the sixth time (I think it's six...I've lost count.)

 

We're still waiting for news. We had a text message, but no postcards. I hope it's enjoying it's time away. It must like it down there in Plympton in Devon. It goes there so often and never seems to want to come back.

I think you know what we might do with it.

 

It came back in the Autumn. But we had lost all confidence in Acer and the laptop. So we sold it on ebay at a loss of £1,200 and bought a Dell instead.

 

We now buy Dell all the time. Why? Because when things go wrong which they occasionally do, we get decent service, people who know what they are talking about and keep their promises.
