Guy's and St Thomas' - ivf banner

The Assisted Conception Unit (ACU), based at Guy’s Hospital in the centre of London, is part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.

Established in 1991, this London fertility centre has developed a reputation for excellence in infertiity treatment  in a very short period of time and is indeed one of the innovators in the field of fertility.

Regularly featured on the BBC and other television channels, their fertility treatments and services are led by world renowned clinicians reputed for their expertise in their chosen fields.  The unit is also involved in various research projects and has developed new fertility treatments techniques which have been implemented by clinics around the country and is only one of a few in the UK licensed to carry out stem cell research.

As well as standard fertility treatments (listed below), they are the leading experts in the field of Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) for conditions such as cystic fibrosis and sickle cell disease.  Unlike many other centres, they offer the complete service in-house.

The Assisted Conception Unit offers a full range of fertility services from investigations (for both male and female) through to fertility treatments, for self funding as well as NHS patients.

Their location in Central London makes them easily accessible by public transport from both in and outside London.

The hospital is just minutes away from rail, tube and bus links at nearby London Bridge station.

Treatments offered

The fertility treatments services offered by the ACU are of the highest standards with success rates above the national average, and indeed the unit consistently ranks amongst the highest in the country for In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) published by the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA), with whom they are licensed to practice a variety of assisted conception techniques.

They encourage all couples to attend free and independent counselling and believe it is an integral part of their treatment in the ACU. All counselling is confidential.

As this London fertility centre is based in a hospital, all their services are fully backed by the facilities offered by one of the most prestigious NHS teaching hospitals in the country.
