In November 2004, the hospital received ISO approval (NS-EN ISO 9001: 2000 and NS-EN ISO 14001:1996) for their services in orthopaedics and ophthalmology. It is only one of a few to be awarded this certification. As a patient at Haugesund Private Hospital, you can therefore be assured that all treatment is carried out at a highly professional level.
They strive to have a high standard of service where their primary goal is the proper care of patients.

Ophthalmic surgery
The Ophthalmology section has its own surgical unit and handles all types of eye-related problems. They perform operations for treating severe vision impairment using a technique known as ICL implantation and use laser treatment for correcting vision impairment and the implantation of ICL lenses.
Implantation of ReSTOR lenses for presbyopia is a breakthrough in vision surgery. There is now a revolutionary new way to potentially leave your glasses behind – the AcrySof® ReSTOR® intraocular lens (IOL), a breakthrough in vision surgery. AcrySof® ReSTOR® has been uniquely designed to improve vision at all distances – up close, far away and everything in-between – giving patients their best chance ever to live free of glasses.
They also possess the most advanced laser on the market for operating on near-sightedness and long-sightedness. They have concentrated on the latest generation of modern technology: narrow-beam low-energy scanning lasers, high-frequency eye tracking (the laser follows a slightly twitching eye), and so-called customised ablation, i.e., individually adapted treatment. All procedures are performed as outpatient.

Norway has Europes Lowest hospital and MRSA infections rate
The occurrence of infections caused by methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) has increased substantially in the past 10-15 years. Infections are especially common in hospitals where they cause increased morbidity, mortality and economic costs. In most European countries, in the USA and Japan MRSA infections constitutes 30 %–60 % of all S aureus infections. In the Scandinavian countries and the Netherlands the occurrence is still low, usually <1 %. It is a common goal in these countries to keep the occurrence low.
In Norway all health care institutions have to include measures against the spread of MRSA in their infection control programmes. The measures should be in accordance with the national guidelines. The management of the institution is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining the infection control programme as a part of the internal control system.
Because of the relative high incidence of MRSA in hospitals and nursing homes in most of Europe they have to screen all patients from abroad prior to admittance.
