Pre-surgical Consultation
Knee and hip surgery procedures are undertaken following a detailed pre-surgical consultation with the specialist consultant surgeon and his professional staff. The final decision to operate, the approach method used and the type of prosthesis to be implanted will be determined by your surgeon at this consultation. The surgeon and the anaesthetist will discuss with you the method of anaesthesia, epidural or general, according to your medical condition and personal wishes.
Blood Transfusions
Knee and hip replacement procedures are performed using a Blood Recycling System avoiding the necessity of pre-operative blood banking, and operative and/or post operative blood transfusions for the patient.

Knee surgery

Patients undergoing surgery can therefore be assured that their personal surgeon has the very highest levels of skill and Orthopaedic knowledge -- and is NOT a General Practitioner or Registrar operating under supervision! They perform knee replacement surgery using the ‘state-of-the-art’ Computer-Aided Navigation System which analyses the patient’s bone profile and guides the surgeon on the shaping of the knee bones.
The Computer-Aided Navigation System also helps the surgeon to align the patient’s bones and joint implants thereby obtaining an extraordinarily high degree of accuracy which reduces the risks of mal-alignment – the main cause of knee revision surgery. Combined with Minimally Invasive Surgery there will be less damage to the tissue around the knee; and the return to a normal active life can, therefore, be anticipated within a realistic period of 6 to 8 weeks.

Whatever your choice of rooms - standard or superior, private or semi private, double or single bedded rooms your bedroom will be equipped with private bathroom with shower, personal TV with English language channels, personal direct bedside telephone, patient operated multipositional electrical beds and emergency and nurse-call system. In certain hospitals, partners with an en suite private single bedroom, can obtain a side bed for the accompanying person at an additional cost.
