The vision of Yeditepe University Hospital has been to offer the best health care, using the latest technology to increase the life standards and expectancy. Having started its services on August 26 2005, the hospital offers health care and treatment as well as educational opportunities for the students of medicine at the Yeditepe University Hospital.
Yeditepe University Hospital was founded on a site of approximately 16,500 m2. With its 170-bed capacity and completely automated systems, it possesses the technology enabling it to provide round-the-clock service. The Yeditepe University Hospital has a total of eight operating rooms and reanimation units which are; Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Neurological Science Intensive Care Unit, Cardiovascular Surgery Intensive Care Unit, General Intensive Care Unit and Coronary Care Unit.
At the same time, the Multislice CT (Multi-sectional Computerized Tomography), the 3 Tesla MR device, the PET-CT (which detects cancerous cells), and the Gamma Camera, all of which are located in the Imaging Center, are some of the most advanced technologies in use in Turkey.
Hospital accreditation
Yeditepe University Hospital and its affiliated institutions were accredited as a whole by the JCI at first survey for all standards. In other words; it is the first Turkish University Hospitals Group that has been certified for its quality and success worldwide.
Organ Transplantation Unit
The transplant team will undertake the following:
- Find out if you are healthy enough to receive a new kidney / liver.
- Prepare you for your operation. This can take a long time, and there is no guarantee a kidney / liver will be found.
- Perform the transplant operation. Help you stay healthy after your transplant.
Highly trained transplant surgeons
The transplant surgeons are highly qualified and have participated in hundreds of transplants. Dr Özcan Gökçe is the director of the Transplantation Program at the Yeditepe University Medical Centre.
Dr Gökçe completed a Clinical Transplantation Fellowship in organ transplantation in Cambridge, UK and received a transplant surgeon certificate from Royal Colleges of Surgeons Of England. He has participated in over 100 liver transplant procedures and performed the first liver transplant operation in İzmir.
Dr Alp Demiragi is in charge of kidney and kidney pancreas transplantation, at the Yeditepe University Medical Centre and holds an Associate Professorship at the Yeditepe University. Following his training, including a research fellowship at Harvard University, Dr Demiragi worked as a transplant surgeon at University of Geneva, Switzerland until December 2002.

Stem Cell Transplantation Unit
Stem cell transplant is a treatment to try to cure some types of cancer. Stem cells are transplanted through a drip to replace those cells that the cancer treatment has killed off. Yeditepe provides both Autologous and Allogenic transplantations.
The Division of Heamatology/Oncology, founded by Prof,Yener Koc , offers heamatological and oncological services, with special expertise in heamatological malignancies, bone marrow transplantation, solid tumors, red blood cell disorders and immunological diseases. Dr.Yener Koc has more than 10 years of transplant experience.Following his training; Dr.Yener Koc worked at Boston University Medical Center, USA and New England Medical Center, USA .
Yeditepe University Hospital Transplant Unit is a 10-bed facility certified by Ministry of Health and EBMT for conduct of autologous, allogeneic, matched-unrelated and reduced intensity transplants. Transplant unit is also certified as Unrelated Donor Harvests by EBMT. The Unit is supported by the Extracorporeal Photopheresis unit that is supervised and maintained by the Division.
Until December 2007 ; Yeditepe University Stem Cell Transplantation Team have perfomed 1153 transplantations( experience in Turkey: 256 ; experience in USA ;897)
International patient services
Yeditepe University Hospital's International Patient Service Department provides an unsurpassed level of personal attention and service to the patients traveling far from home for their medical care. Specially trained representatives in the International Services Department assist patients with the every logistical detail of their time in care - from making a hotel reservation to travel and transportation.
