Quinn: Idea from Ireland

Quinn Healthcare, who recently bought BUPA’s Irish health insurance business, has a novel idea that UK insurers may want to copy.

 

Quinn Direct, an insurer that operates in Ireland and the UK, is offering £300 of free home insurance, if customers buy health insurance from Quinn Healthcare and motor insurance from Quinn Direct

 

No UK health insurer offers discounts on such a scale – offering 15 or 20 % discount for existing motor customers if they buy home insurance, or vice versa, is about the best on offer.

 

The immediate defence of “ they can only do that if their premiums are higher than competitors’’ is immediately shot down, as Quinn is not only the cheapest in Ireland, but has a price freeze while competitors are increasing premiums substantially.
