A 50-Plus Travel Adventure: The Adventure Travel Show, 12-14 January 2007

Over the last 10 years, adventure travel has gained in popularity, due in no small part to the growing number of older travellers looking for more active and adventurous experiences. Gone are the days when older travellers opted for cruise ships, tour buses and UK seaside resorts. Now healthier, wealthier, better educated and with more free time than previous generations, the 50-plus crowd is driving the adventure travel industry.

Around 20 million people in the UK are over 50 and most would baulk at the idea of being regarded as frail and inactive. The older traveller is choosing everything from off-roading in Ethiopia to hiking in Patagonia to get their kicks. Australia, New Zealand and Latin America are among the favourite destinations.

The Daily Telegraph Adventure Travel Show plays host to hundreds of exhibitors, speakers, tour operators, equipment manufacturers, explorers, photographers and film makers. Everything you need to find your next adventure and make it happen, all under one roof. For more information, or to book tickets, please call 0870 161 2122 or log on to www.adventureshow.co.uk.

Even if you are not over 50, check that your travel insurance covers all the adventurous activities on your holiday – your travel agent may try to sell you an unsuitable package.
