Thai hospital promotes benefits of overseas treatment

Senior doctors at the Bangkok Hospital in Phuket, Thailand, have announced plans to market their services in Britain.

The team of medics have obtained the support of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (Tat), which will help to promote the hospital as the ideal place for British visitors to obtain private healthcare, particularly cosmetic surgery and dental treatments.

Bangkok Hospital Phuket is one of the leading hospitals in Thailand, with extremely high standards of both surgery and hygiene.

It has a highly skilled team of surgeons, many of whom hold overseas qualifications, and is able to offer a comprehensive range of treatments, including facelifts, liposuction, rhinoplasty and dental work.

Khun Tanes Petsuwan, director of Tat London, commented: "Medical tourism in Phuket will help the island attract more UK tourists and capture what is an emerging niche travel market.

"Over 714,489 British and Irish tourists visited Thailand last year, and visits by those seeking quality medical procedures could add significantly to that figure."

Medical tourism is a growing market, as an increasing number of British citizens discover the benefits of seeking treatment overseas.

The hospital hopes that visitors will come for treatment, which frequently only requires an overnight stay in hospital, before recuperating in a nearby luxury hotel, just moments away from their doctor.
