International health insurance provider, Goodhealth Worldwide’s new office in Shanghai has launched its first healthcare product for the expatriate market in China in a partnership with China Life Insurance Company Limited.

The product - The China Life Goodhealth International Healthcare Plan (IHP) – is the first international healthcare product with a pan-China license.

This will allow companies to provide protection for their staff no matter where they are based in the country. Until now, companies have been restricted to purchasing from providers in the same region.

The IHP will be issued by China Life but fully managed and backed by Goodhealth through its Shanghai office and other well established regional client service centres around the world in Hong Kong, Dubai, London and Miami.

There are now over 500,000, expats working in China, from Europe, North America and Asia.

IHP policyholders will gain the benefit of access to much-sought-after private clinics and private hospital wards in China and throughout the world as well as the policy’s worldwide health insurance benefits.

The plan also allows overseas companies trading in China the tax advantage of deducting health insurance premiums from expenses.

Goodhealth’s Shanghai office has put its staff through six months of stringent training in Hong Kong and other overseas offices in preparation for the launch of the IHP. The 15-strong multilingual team has been recruited both locally and internationally and includes trained physicians as well as underwriting and claims specialists. In the near future Goodhealth expects to develop offices in other centres, such as Beijing and Guangdong, to provide local support for clients throughout China.
