Diagnostic testing in the UK

A medical or diagnostic test is a medical procedure performed, for health reasons, with the intention of identifying a medical condition or disease by its signs and symptoms, to measure the progress or recovery from disease or to confirm that a person is free from disease.

Medical tests commonly performed are measuring blood pressure, checking the pulse rate, listening to the heart with a stethoscope, urine tests, fecal tests, saliva tests, blood tests, medical imaging, electrocardiogram, hydrogen breath test and occasionally biopsy.
