A Colorectal surgeon is a general surgeon who has had further training and is expert in the diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant diseases of the colon, rectum, and anus.  Endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopy and sigmoidoscopy are performed to diagnose diseases such as cancer.
