Mr Giles Bantick MB,BS, FRCS(Plast) qualified as a doctor from Barts in 1989. In 1993, he became a Fellow of The Royal College of England and completed training in plastic surgery in 2000. His plastic surgery training was in the UK and in Sydney, Australia. He was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to undertake research into wound healing at Harvard Medical School / Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston USA (1994-5) and has completed fellowships (special training) in cosmetic surgery and hand surgery.
 
He worked as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon (locum) in Bristol in 2002, and in 2003 was appointed as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. In 2007 he was appointed Lead for Plastic Surgery (head of department) at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital. At his private practice in Central and West London he provides general plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery and hand surgery.

Clinical interests

Mr Bantick's main clinical interests are hand surgery, cosmetic surgery and treatment of skin cancers.
 
Mr Bantick specialises in the treatment of the whole spectrum of hand problems, particularly Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Dupuytren’s disease (finger contractures), trigger finger and arthritis / pain in the small joints of the hand. In the clinic, many hand surgery problems may be managed without surgery, for example needle fasciotomy for Dupuytren’s disease. He treats hand injuries such as fractures, joint injuries, tendon injuries, nerve injuries and lacerations / wounds. He has a particular interest in sports injuries of the hand and treats a variety of elite sportsmen. Mr Bantick works with an excellent hand therapy team at his hand surgery practice at The Wellington Hospital (St Johns Wood) and The Lister Hospital (Chelsea). 
 
At his private cosmetic surgery practice at The Wellington Hospital (St Johns Wood), The Lister Hospital (Chelsea) and The West London Clinic (Hammersmith) he offers a full range of cosmetic surgery procedures. He has particular expertise in minimally invasive treatments such as botulinum toxin (eg Botox and Dysport), fillers (Restylane etc), and local anaesthetic smaller surgical procedures.
 
As an experienced reconstructive surgeon he treats many patients with skin cancers such as BCC (rodent ulcers) and melanoma, particularly lesions on the face where the cosmetic result is so important.
 

Research interests

Mr Bantick's research interests include hand fractures and wound healing. He was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to undertake research into wound healing at Harvard Medical School / Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston USA (1994-5).
