About Brian Little
Mr Little trained as an ophthalmologist at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London and was appointed Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon to the Royal Free Hospital and Honorary Senior Lecturer at London University in 1993. His NHS practice is based at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead. He also provides a service at the Whittington Hospital in Highgate.
He is internationally recognised as a leading cataract surgeon, specialising in small-incision surgery. The great majority of his surgery is performed under local anaesthetic, so that most patients are able to leave hospital on the same day. The lenses that he uses to replace the cataracts are tailored to suit each patient. Recently, multifocal lens implants have become available, that give patients back both near and distant vision, and he is accredited to provide these.

His other special interest is the management and treatment of glaucoma.
He has always been involved in undergraduate and postgraduate training, and has extensive experience in this field. He contributes to the organisation and delivery of many surgical training courses in the UK, Europe and USA.
His award winning Video Atlas of Eye Surgery has recently been released to high international acclaim. The atlas is a collaborative venture involving ophthalmologists from the UK, Europe and the USA. Its purpose is to provide a high quality video-based structured training programme in Eye Surgery.
Since 1996 he has been a member of the Volunteer Faculty of ORBIS, the international eye charity that has, as its flagship, the DC10 "Flying Eye Hospital". Through this work he trains doctors and nurses in developing countries. He has undertaken programs in Bangladesh, Myanmar, the Philippines, Jamaica and Ethiopia. He is also one of the three ORBIS UK ambassadors, and works, in this capacity, to promote ORBIS both in the UK and abroad.
